Online dating just got a whole lot hotter

July 10, 2004 -- Live online video dating is the latest in dating technologies designed to get you out of the clubs and pubs and on to the Internet to find your next date.

According to ComScore, and Jupiter Research there is approximately 40 million online dating profiles on the net with an estimated 218 million users expected by 2007, its therefore no wonder things are changing rapidly within the online dating world.

We spoke to Sam Newell from Partyflirt.com to find out why everyone’s getting hot under the collar about video dating.

“One of the problems with online dating until now has been that everybody describes themselves in the same way. All the guys say they are tall dark and hansom and all the girls are slim and good looking and everyone has a great sense of humour! We all know from our experiences in real life that it’s simply not true. Until picture personals were introduced it was very hard to know if the person you were talking to resembled the person they described in anyway, if you ever went on a date it was pot luck whether you got the girl or guy of your dreams or ended up with someone you would not normally give a second look.
Picture personals were a big improvement but still lacked credibility; there was still no guarantee that the guy or girl you were emailing was the same person in the picture you were looking at.

Video / audio technology has done away with the uncertainty and added a much more realistic element to the whole thing. Now you get to talk to the person while looking at them and hearing what they have to say instead of just receiving faceless emails. It’s like going on a virtual date without ever having to leave the comfort of your own home.
It’s never going to be a substitute for the real thing but it can be used as a kind of pre-date to see if like the person or not it’s also loads of fun!”
